Three constraints to internalise before paying. The product works only for IPs and accounts in the USA, in Bitrefill's own wording. The real risk here is not markup — it is that Google Play country is one of the least changeable settings in consumer tech. Verify yours before you buy, because unlike a Steam region, you cannot simply switch it next week.

The Google country problem is worse than a region lock
Every gift card on Bitrefill is region-restricted, and most of those restrictions are annoying but fixable. Google Play is the exception, and it is worth understanding why before you buy.
Steam lets you change account region under conditions. Amazon lets you hold accounts on several storefronts. Google Play ties your Play country to your account, allows you to change it roughly once per year, and requires a valid payment method from the destination country to do so. Some balance and subscription entitlements do not survive the move.
That changes the calculation. A mismatched Steam card is a mistake you can work around next month. A mismatched Google Play card is a mistake you may be living with for a year, and Bitrefill's refund policy will not help you once the code is revealed — refunds cover failed transactions, invalid products and already-redeemed codes, not a working code your account cannot accept.
Bitrefill's wording adds a second layer: the product works only for IPs and accounts in the USA. That is a stronger statement than most region locks, and it means Google may look at where the redemption is coming from as well as what the account says.

The single-use rule, and what it actually means
Bitrefill's product page states two related restrictions: the card cannot be combined with other Google Play gift cards, and it can only be used once. These get misread in both directions, so here is the practical reading.
"Used once" means the code is consumed by a single redemption. You cannot redeem it, spend part of it, and re-redeem the remainder — obvious once stated, but people ask.
"Cannot be combined" is about the redemption transaction rather than about your balance. Redeemed value accumulates in your Play balance and is spendable across purchases, but you should not plan on applying two codes to one action or expect partial-code behaviour. If you need $100 of Play credit, a single $100 card is the clean route rather than five $20 codes — though bear in mind the opposite advice applies on Steam, where premiums grow with denomination. Subscriptions: the billing-route trap
This is the most common disappointment with Google Play credit, and it has nothing to do with crypto or with Bitrefill.
Google Play balance can only pay for things billed through Google Play. If you subscribed to Netflix, Spotify, YouTube Premium or anything else directly on that company's website, your Play balance cannot touch it — the billing relationship is with the company, not with Google. If you subscribed inside the Android app, it probably is billed through Play, and the balance will work.
So before buying a Google Play card to cover a subscription, check where that subscription is billed. It is usually visible in the service's account settings, listed as something like "billed through Google Play" or "billed via the App Store". Getting this wrong leaves you holding credit you did not want — recoverable in the sense that Play balance is spendable on apps and games, but not what you intended. Is it worth buying Google Play credit with crypto?
For spending crypto: yes. Par pricing means the conversion is essentially free, delivery is instant, and Play balance covers apps, games, in-app purchases, books, and any subscription billed through Google. Alongside Amazon, this is one of the two products where the whole premise works cleanly.
For spending control: strongly yes, and this is underrated. A Play card is a hard ceiling on in-app spending, which makes it genuinely useful for a child's device or for anyone who has ever been surprised by a free-to-play bill. A $20 code cannot overspend, cannot auto-renew and cannot be charged twice. That is a real feature, not a workaround.
For privacy: partially. Buying needs no identity documents inside Bitrefill's unverified limits, but you redeem into a Google account that knows a great deal about you already.
