Who we are, and why you should read us sceptically

What this site is

Bitrefill.promo documents how buying gift cards, vouchers, eSIMs and phone credit with cryptocurrency actually works — including the parts that cost money. We cover Bitrefill in depth because it is the largest and longest-running platform in the category, and we cover its competitors where they genuinely do something better.

The site exists because the search results for this topic are dominated by two kinds of page: coupon aggregators republishing codes that have never worked, and thin reviews that recite a marketing page. Neither tells you the thing you actually need to know before paying, which is what a card costs relative to its face value and whether it will work on your account.

How we source things

Every factual claim on this site comes from one of three places, and we try to make it obvious which:

Primary documents. Bitrefill's terms of service, its help centre articles and its live product pages. When we quote a spending limit, a refund window or a region restriction, it is because it is written there. This is why our KYC page carries exact tier figures rather than numbers from a forum post.

Our own observation, dated. Where we quote a price — the $55.32 for a $50 Steam card that appears across this site — we say when we saw it. Gift card pricing is live data and will have moved by the time you read it. The point of publishing it is not the specific figure but the spread between brands, which is structural.

Named third parties, linked. For anything we cannot verify directly — the March 2026 security incident, for instance — we link to the reporting we relied on and say who reported it. Our review page cites CoinDesk rather than asserting the detail on our own authority.

What we refuse to publish

Promo codes we have not seen work. This is the biggest difference between this site and the pages that outrank it. We tested the circulating "Bitrefill discount codes" and they do not work, so instead of republishing them we wrote up why the whole category is fiction. That page is less commercially attractive than a list of codes. It is also true.

Features that exist only in a press release. If we cannot find it on a live product page or in the documentation, we do not describe it as working.

Only the good news. Bitrefill lost roughly 18,500 purchase records to a state-linked attacker in March 2026. It is covered in full, with dates, on our review page. A review containing only positives is an advertisement wearing a lab coat.

Anything that helps fraud. A meaningful slice of search traffic in this niche is looking for "free gift card codes", "carding methods" and generators. Those are fraud, not techniques. We describe why they do not work and leave it there.

How this site is funded

Some outbound links on this site are commercial — if you open an account with an exchange we link to, we may be paid. That is how the research gets funded, and you should factor it in when reading us.

What it does not change: the numbers. Every fee figure, spending limit and region restriction here is sourced to a document you can open yourself, specifically so that our commercial interest cannot quietly bend the facts. We would rather you check than trust us.

Two things we do not do. We do not accept payment for a positive verdict, which is why the fees page leads with the platform's worst pricing rather than its best. And we do not publish anyone's referral code, because that would make a page an advertisement for one stranger's account while pretending to be research. Our referral page explains the programme and tells you to get a code from anyone at all, since every valid code produces an identical result.

Editorial corrections

This category changes fast. Prices move daily, catalogues change, payment methods get withdrawn — Binance Pay was an accepted method until it was not, and a great many pages still say otherwise. If you find something on this site that is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.

Languages

The research pages on this site are published in English, Italian, German and Spanish. The localised versions are written for their markets rather than machine-translated — regional pricing, local retail brands and the relevant regulators differ enough that a translation would be misleading. Service pages like this one are English only.
